Located at the intersection of York City’s South George Street and East College Avenue, the George Street Commons redevelopment project replaced an underutilized and partially vacant site with twenty-eight townhouse units, a community center, and a relocated 2,000 SF grocery store. Four of the townhouses are fully ADA accessible. Pirhl Development partnered with the Redevelopment Authority of York and the YMCA of York County to complete this project. Community layout and architectural style respect the character of the surrounding neighborhood. A ‘value engineering’ process allowed the developer to meet all community development goals within the budgetary constraints of available funding sources.
