Wins 10,000 Friends of PA Gold Award
RGS Associates is pleased to announce that the Mifflin Mills affordable housing project developed by the Lebanon County Housing Authority (LCHA) received a Gold Award from 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania at their annual awards ceremony in Harrisburg Tuesday evening. This statewide awards program “puts smart land use, smart design, and smart growth in the spotlight” by recognizing projects that “successfully demonstrate sound land use principals around the Commonwealth”. RGS is a proud project team partner with the LCHA, Kaylor Architects and Caldwell, Heckles & Egan on this and other redevelopment projects in the City of Lebanon and surrounding communities.
Mifflin Mills is a residential infill redevelopment project that reflects the architectural style and land use patterns within the City of Lebanon. LCHA’s vision for Mifflin Mills was to turn a dilapidated and abandoned factory site into a twenty unit row home community that created an affordable housing opportunity. Through creative project financing and a rent-to-own financing structure, residents in the community will have a greater chance at long-term homeownership by having a portion of their monthly rent set aside as a future down payment on their mortgage. Mifflin Mills is an excellent example of a residential infill project that reused an abandoned site while creating an opportunity for restored community pride and affordable home ownership within the City of Lebanon.
